On Thursday 24th June 2010, 1 year old Angelina Faith Mills undertook the biggest challenge of her life so far. A high risk operation described as a hemispherectomy means that the right hand side of Angelina’s brain has been disconnected in an attempt to alleviate the effects of the rare and incurable Sturge-Weber syndrome.
Angelina’s parents Stephen and Lisa have been by her bedside in Great Ormond Street Hospital where they waited for over 7 hours until they were informed that their little girl had had a successful operation with no complications and they are now seeing her through recovery with the support of the hospital team and have received many touching messages from family, friends and well wishers from across the world.

Two such people who accompanied and supported Stephen and Lisa on the journey to Great Ormond Street and right through Angelina’s operation itself were Violet Millar, Angelina’s aunty and Colleen Marshall, close family friend. They have said that words alone could not express the spectrum of emotions felt during the days in the hospital and all hopes and prayers have been answered in bringing Angelina through this most difficult operational procedure.
Now back in their hometown of Sheringham and waiting on Angelina’s return from hospital, Colleen and Violet are throwing themselves into organising a fundraising event for Angelina to be held at Pinewoods, Sheringham on Saturday 21st August 2010, starts at 7.00p.m – 12.30am.
The event is being publicised throughout July and August and promises to be a very enjoyable evening with a hog roast, salad buffet, selection of desserts, a family disco, raffle and an auction.
This night is to raise money for the ‘Angelina Fund’ and provide sensory room equipment to help her ongoing development and recovery after her brain operation at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
Anyone wishing to come along and/or sponsor this event with a donated prize/voucher can call Colleen and Violet on the following numbers: 01263 824410 and 07748 336763.
Tickets are £15 for adults and £7.50 for children for the whole evening’s entertainment.
